ENVIRONMENTAL CONSTRAINTS

Environmental constraints are the characteristics in the environment that change the level of difficulty of a task or activity when it is performed in that environment.  For example walking may be more difficult if equipment is scattered on the floor.  For a student, the sport of volleyball is constrained environmentally through the height of the net and the size and type of court.

*ONE WAY TO DEVELOPMENTALLY MODIFY:

Smaller courts and nets for student success!

The environment should be adjusted for the ages that you are teaching.  Students that are smaller take up less space, react to stimulus slower and have less control over their bodies.  Making the courts and nets smaller, allows for more courts to get more kids active and allows for students to put less power in their attempts.  This lets them focus more on their skills than the fact that they need to get the ball halfway across the gym or over a net that is 3 times their size.
